The National Council of Jewish Women, Tallahassee Section, is establishing an annual writing contest for students.  The contest encourages students to learn about and understand the lessons of the Holocaust, including the nature and repercussions of unchecked hate and prejudice taken to their ultimate extremes. It is our hope that such an understanding will promote cultural diversity and its acceptance.

The National Council of Jewish Women, Tallahassee Section, uses the events of the Holocaust to view moral behavior and educate students about contemporary issues.

One objective is to provide an understanding of prejudice and discrimination, and the harm they inflict upon individuals and society. Another objective is to help individuals understand their connection to the Holocaust and how each of us can work proactively to ensure that history does not repeat itself.

The Holocaust Essay Contest is one of the many venues to reach students while meeting state educational standards.
